The annual Summerlee Mission Trip to West Virginia has been transformed during the past several years due to the pandemic and conditions at the usual West Virginia site. This didn’t stop the mission work though, as local churches and adults, youth and children went to work here in our area during the month of July, helping others.
In 2022 the mission program experienced the significant loss of two long-time leaders and had to regroup to continue the program. And yet, the mission was blessed with eighty people from eight local churches who worked on a variety of projects repairing at local homes. In addition, 18 children were part of the Kids Crew, making a total of 98 engaged in the 2022 Summerlee @ Home program.
Mission locally has had a different feel. Their home base for some evening meals and rest was in their own homes. Everyone packed their own lunches daily. Some evening meals were provided by the churches involved and offered a good time to share stories and plan for the next day's activities. The one thing that has not changed is showing God’s love by devoting time, energy and resources for the welfare of others. See below a few images captured from past trips and from a variety of work locations.
